THE TOFF IN TOWN - TUESDAY 11th MARCH

FRANCIS PLAGNE BIG BAND
POLETOPRA
THE ANCIENTS
CHRISTINA TESTER

FRANCIS PLAGNE BIG BAND
Melbourne based ‘fractured kaleidoscope pop sound artist extraordinaire’ Francis Plagne’s work combines electronics, field recordings, instrumental improvisation and ’sweetly awkward psych-pop’. While his recordings on Synaesthesia, Mistletone and Nervous Jerk are solo affairs, in this performance he will appear alongside Connal Parsley, Joe Talia, Ned Collette, Anthony Pateras, members of Snawklor and others, in a set swinging between the accessible, the awkward and the adventurous. ‘Plagne is a ripping Art Party dude with historical smarts to rival your local library.’—Mark Gomes, Three Thousand ‘Imagine Panda Bear cutting up the songs of Brian Wilson and Olivia Tremor Control and pasting the pieces into colourful musical collages.’—Alex Fregon, Mx

POLETOPRA
Poletopra is visual artist and extreme noise practitioner and enthusiast Marco Fusinato and prepared piano/electronics experimentalist Anthony Pateras. Appearing respectively on electronics + guitar and analogue synthesiser, this promises a set of carefully nuanced brutality (or not).

THE ANCIENTS
The Ancients is the child of Mum Smokes members Jon Mitchell, in which full reign is given to his ability to craft charming and formally experimental pop miniatures, accompanied by full band.
CHRISTINA TESTER
Christina Tester is a young sound artist who explores everyday materials and the human voice. At the Toff she presents a work for highly amplified kitchen materials.
