Anthony Pateras is a composer, pianist & electronic musician.
Pateras has been commissioned throughout Europe, the USA & Australia by INA-GRM (Paris), Südwestrundfunk (Baden-Baden), Australian Chamber Orchestra (Sydney), ensemble]h[iatus (La Creuse), Lampo (Chicago), Kitchen Orchestra (Stavanger), ONCEIM (Paris), Ensemble Dedalus (Toulouse) Third Coast Percussion (Chicago) & Astra (Melbourne).
His concert music's been performed by, among others, the LA Philharmonic, BBC, Toronto & Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, Brett Dean & the International Contemporary Ensemble. He’s written numerous orchestral percussion pieces, performed by Sinfonieorchester Basel, Drumming Grupo de Percussão, Percussion Group The Hague, Eklekto, Synergy & Speak Percussion.
Anthony's music has been recognised through the Michael Kieran Harvey Scholarship (2020), residencies at Cité des Artes (2026), La Becque (2019), Akademie Schloss Solitude (2018) & Montalvo Arts Center (2010), fellowships from Creative Victoria (2018-19) & the Ian Potter Foundation (2007) & two nominations at the UNESCO Rostrum of Composers (2004, 2011). He is a joint recipient of the ZKM Giga-Hertz Produktionspreise (2017) & is a Sidney Myer Creative Fellow (2014).
Pateras has performed throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia & New Zealand since 1999. Among 600+ concerts, he’s presented his music at over 80 international festivals, including Unsound (Krakow), Archipel (Geneva), Jazz Festival Willisau, Akousma (Paris), 2TageStrom (Zürich), Kaleidophon (Ulrichsberg), Klangspuren (Schwaz), Next Music (Bratislava), New Creations (Toronto), All Ears (Oslo), MaerzMusik (Berlin), London Contemporary Music Festival, Green Umbrella (Los Angeles) & the Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Adelaide Festivals.
Anthony has additionally scored numerous short films screened at Cannes, Telluride, Edinburgh, Sundance, Toronto & Berlin Film Festivals, recently scoring Yves Netzhammer’s debut animated feature Journey of Shadows (Rotterdam, 2024).
He’s released over 50 albums for labels such as Tzadik (New York), Editions Mego (Vienna), Ipecac (San Francisco) & Shelter Press (Paris) & runs his own Immediata imprint.
